Shantrel A. Brown, Partner, represents numerous clients with particular interests in the environment, infrastructure, economic development, transportation, education and health.
Prior to joining Alcalde & Fay, Ms. Brown owned a law firm, which focused on government relations. As principal of the firm, she combined extensive legal experience with firsthand political knowledge to offer clients a unique set of professional talents and abilities.
Ms. Brown was a political appointee in the Clinton Administration for over five years with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Office of Prevention, Pesticides, and Toxic Substances. As a communications special assistant, she provided media relations, speechwriting services and coordinated public appearances for senior agency officials.
A native Floridian, she received a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida and a juris doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law. Her legal education included participating in the Lyndon Baines Johnson Internship Program, where she served as a staff assistant to the late Congressman Charles E. Bennett (D-FL). Before relocating to Washington, Ms. Brown was an assistant state attorney in the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida. She completed internships with the Committee on Reapportionment in the Florida House of Representatives, the Leon County State Attorney's Office and the General Counsel's Office at Florida A&M University. She was Vice President of the Women's Law Symposium and Secretary of the Black Law Students Association. Ms. Brown is a member of the Florida and District of Columbia Bars.
